The Squirt A team traveled through blinding snow to the Mousquiri
Tournament in
Forwards Corey
Webber, Will O’Neil
and
Billy Dickson worked well together. Dickson showed unselfish play and did a great job
at creating opportunities for his line mates. Combined, this line had 12 points
in the tournament. The forward line
of Bob
Foster, John Raikos and Brian Smith
also played well and had 8 points.
The defensive pairs
of Nic Hayward
& Steve Hillson, and Tim Poitras & Ryan
McKennedy did an
amazing job at the blue line.
Tim
Huggins was between the pipes
for all 4 games and made some spectacular saves.
The first game
against the Barracudas Deux-Rives was tough with the
Hawks coming out on the short end, losing 7-3. The team played hard but had to combat
travel fatigue and a good team. Webber
had a natural hat trick, with assists on 2 of the goals coming from Raikos
and O’Neil.
Poitras assisted on the second
goal.
In the second game
the Hawks played well but came up
against a great team in the Voisin Papineau and once again fell 5-1. O’Neil scored the lone goal
assisted by Webber and Poitras.
In the must win third
game, the Hawks pulled off an upset win against the higher seed Mineurs, Sherbrooke Ouest to move on to the playoff round. The Hawks came out flying and won 4-3 in
an outstanding game. Webber
started the scoring off, assisted by McKennedy. Raikos
scored the next 2 goals. The first
