The Mite A team
traveled to Greenfield over the weekend of February 4-6. In game one, the
Cranston, RI mite team had a 2-0 lead after two periods. Led by Corey Webber (4 goals and an assist) the Hawks came back strong in
the third, scoring 7 goals in 10 minutes! Also scoring were Steve Maxim, John Krapian, and Jesse Caisse. Assisting with the goal scoring were William O'Neil (2), Ryan Freker and Ryan McKennedy.
In game two, the Hawks faced a team from Triboro, MA. A goal by O'Neil in the first period was the only score until the
third period. Great goaltending by Dalton Doire and Tim Huggins kept this game close. Nick Hayward and Webber netted
unassisted goals in the third; however, a late goal by Triboro prevented the
shutout.
In game three, the Hawks faced off against the Billerica Mites. Three goals by Webber - one unassisted, the other two assisted by O'Neil and Krapian put the Hawks
ahead quickly in the first period. Billerica battled back, scoring once in each
period, and eventually tying it at three in the third. But Hayward netted two more unassisted and unanswered goals to
finish the scoring. And once again, the goaltenders Doire and Huggins played a solid game between the pipes!
The Hawks skated to a 3-1 victory against the Essex, VT Mites in the
championship game. Webber wore the hat, scoring twice in the first period - one
unassisted and one assisted by O'Neil . His third was
an unassisted goal in the third period.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MITE A TEAM!
