posted February 1, 2005
The recent snow storm closed Martha's Vineyard for several days; however, it
reopened just in time for their annual tournament this past weekend. The Bantam B team created their own blizzard of activity, going
3-0 to earn a berth in the championship game on Sunday. The action began Friday
night with a 4-1 victory over Midstate. Scoring for the Hawks were Tommy Xayyamountry with two goals while Matt Kelleher and Will Driscoll netted one
each. Eric Olejarz had an assist. Xayyamountry was
also named "Player of the Game". Saturday morning, the Hawks edged
past Brockton, 2-1, with goals by Olejarz and Kelleher who also had an assist. Varian Ricard was named "Player of the Game". That
afternoon, host Martha's Vineyard, fell to the Hawks 2-1. Scoring both goals
was Olejarz with Xayyamountry giving an
assist. Hawks goalie Chris
Depari was named "Player of the
Game" for his solid perfomance between the pipes. The championship game on
Sunday was a face-off between Brockton and Greater Lowell. Despite a great
effort by goal scorers Kelleher and Olejarz and an assist
from Casey Johnston, the Hawks fell 4-2. Congratulations to the Bantam B team!
